You could also use a RAM Disk on the OS 8 Mac and have the browser cache in
that. Let's not mince words: Dialup is slow. I have a cable modem, and
compared to the cable I had in NY, it's slow. I used to get up to 900K per
second download and never noticed the upload speed because it was never a
problem. My guess is that it had to be 200K per second. This is in a
community, Long Island, that has the population of Iowa, in the land mass of
3 or 4 Iowa counties. Now out here, they throttle connections to around 200K
per second download and 15K per second upload. I don't get it. But Dialup
isn't an option, for me at least. I'd might as well as send smoke signals.
