Hi,
We had a capacity group at the meeting at CompUSA Tues. evening. Matt
had a handout with the new products from Apple this month. The new
PowerBooks are terrific (so are the new iBooks). Apple reposted OS
10.2.8 and it seems to be working well now. Matt pointed out that the
Apple laptop market share jumped rather dramatically this last few
months. Windows now has its own version of iTunes with access to the
Apple Music Store. It also included a list of books and references
for Panther. There a several out there.
Matt then demonstrated some of the features of Panther. It is faster
and has some nice features--including a fast switch between users.
The new finder should help people navigate more smoothly (I surprised
myself by liking it). The neatest feature is Expose. I had to see it
to realize how much easier getting around will be. No more hiding
things and searching for a window or document. You have to see it to
understand its power.
Mat pointed out that there maintenance of the system consists of safe
boot, repair permissions and using Disk Warrior 3. He demonstrated
repairing permissions using the Disk Utility.
As we continue to have good programs and good attendance this is a
great group for learning and sharing.
If you have questions or comments please feel free to post to the list.
As usual be sure and tell the people at CompUSA that you appreciate
their hosting our meetings.
