Okay. Here's the timeline.

Fri Sep 26th - bought new AlBook from CompUSA. I was too busy to
really play with it since I was gone on weekends to renaissance
festivals and such in the area, but I copied all my TiBook stuff over
and had things configured. I noticed the shift key was sticky.
Grumble.

Mon Oct 6 - I take the AlBook to CompUSA but they would have to send it
off. Apple Rep reminds me I can also contact Apple directly, so I go
home and call. They say they'll send a box.

Tue Oct 7 - Box is waiting on my door step when I get home from work at
3pm. Wow! I spend the night backing up changes and box the machine up.

Wed Oct 8 - I drop the box off at CopyMax, and they say Airborne will
pick it up at 6pm. Blah. Goodbye, Powerbook! You will be missed.

Thu Oct 9 - According to online tracking, the computer arrived at the
Houston, Texas repair center at 8:15am.

Fri Oct 10 - When I got home from work, there was a note saying they
tried to deliver my computer at 11am.

LESS THAN 48 HOURS FROM SHIPPING TO RETURN! WOW!

I haven't opened the box yet. I fear it's just my unit returned to
sender due to a bad address ;-)
