Just catching up on reading this thread and had a few things to add=2E

First off, you are not alone=2E A quick google of "modus Webmail"=20
resulted in a number of postings that cited this exact error (e=2Eg=2E=20
http://www=2Email-archive=2Ecom/modus@vircom=2Ecom/msg01317=2Ehtml) My=20
best=20
guess after reading this stuff is that the error is caused by incorrect=20
permissions set on the server side=2E Basically, I think it's the ISP's=20
fault=2E

I don't know anything about the mail program they are giving you, but I=20
have become a fan of Apple's free Mail application (often called=20
mail=2Eapp)=2E Prarienet should be able to provide the settings you need to=20=

get it working=2E Basically all you need is the name of the mail server,=20
a username and password, and the name of the outgoing mail server=2E=20
Every mail application will have an area to fill in this account=20
information (in mail=2Eapp, its in the preferences under the accounts=20
tab)=2E

It looks like this modus webmail thing is just a way to access your=20
email via a web page, and not an email program that runs on your=20
computer (like eudora, or mail=2Eapp, or Entourage)=2E Because of this, you=20=

might also try using another web browser to see if you get the same=20
error=2E What web browser are you using now? (likely to be Internet=20
Explorer, Safari, OmniWeb, Netscape=2E=2E=2E something like that) Upgrading=20=

that program might also help=2E

If you are using Safari, there is a great bit of software called Safari=20
Enhancer that will allow you to turn on an extra menu called the debug=20
menu=2E This has all kinds of new features in it, but the main one for=20
your situation is that it allows you to set your browser to report that=20
it is a different browser=2E When you first go to a web page (say, the=20
page where you go to get your mail), there is a way for the web server=20
to ask what program you are using to view that page=2E Normally, Safari=20
would just say "I'm Safari", but you can have it lie and say, "I'm=20
Internet Explorer for Windows"=2E Some naughty web pages only want to=20
work for some browsers, so being able to pretend you are using another=20
program sometimes gets things to work better=2E You can get Safari=20
Enhancer at macupdate=2Ecom=2E

OK=2E I hope that helps some,

Bailey
