I, too, use a standalone multitrack digital recorder.  With new 
multitracks (with CD burners built in) under $1000, I am having a hard 
time justifying going to a Mac based system.  I wanted to do that, but 
looking at prices, it would cost more than double and all I'd end up 
getting is the need to bring alone my $2000 laptop and mouse editing 
(which would be very very nice).

I'd love to find an inexpensive solution that would replace my hardware 
keyboard (Yamaha W7) and recorder (Roland VS-880) ... Reason and ... ?

P.S. - Any Mac X programmers out there using XCode?  I'm trying to get 
CVS figured out -- anyone using it care to drop me an e-mail?
