I confess I'm a stealth member of this list. I went to a few group meetings years ago, but nothing since. I do nothing dramatic w/ PHP, but have done some simple stuff incl mySQL. I save your hints.
Been using PHP 4.3.1 on apache 1.2.34 on my win2k laptop. Now, am trying to install PHP 4.4.2 & apache 2.2.2 on my newer XP machine. Replaced XP-home with pro to be able to proceed.
Are these versions incompatible? I'm trying to load PHP as a module. Apache works by itself. MySQL loads its admin screen [I haven't tried any of that]. PHP shows the phpinfo html codes when I run php -i from the command prompt. But...
When I edit the apache httpd.conf file to add
LoadModule php4_module "c:/php/php4apache2.dll" [from the install instr] or
LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so [from http://us3.php.net/manual/en/faq.installation.php#faq.installation.phpini]
apache will not load. Message "The requested operation has failed!". Without the LoadModule line, the browser doesn't know what to do with the php file, ie, save or select a program.
The install instructions talk about apache 2.0.x, but also say to use the latest versions. Am I doing something incredibly stupid? Or is there somewhere else I should be looking for assistance. Ouch! Ouch! [head against the wall!]
Thanks for your help.
Jane
