[ciapug] What if...

I just had this idea... I'm digging for opinions...
I've got this big client intake system. Its used by a non-profit. They
do alot of work with a second non-profit. The second non-profit's work
is differant, but what they have in common is they share clients and
basic demographic information. Both non-profits would like to share
client demographic information in order to provide services for client
that are served by both agencies.
I do have some access control built in, so I could make it so that
non-profit #2 uses the same system, built with limited access. However,
I'd prefer to do some customization for non-profit #2.
At this point, we've got the release of information covered and who/how
will be doing the admin chores. What I'm considering doing is creating a
second web app, that uses only certain parts of the first non-profits
database.
This will allow me customize for non-profit #2 and still share the core
dataset. (I'll also have total control of code for both systems) Anyone
have any experience doing something like this? Thoughts?
:) Dave
