[ciapug] September's meeting ...

I started developing PHP back in December 2002. Currently I maintain a
couple of websites written in PHP and particpate in beta testing for a
company that creates forum software.
When it came to preparing for the test, I knew that experience with the
language would help. Last month when Zend offered the $125 exam voucher
(which they are still offering for those interested), I decided it was time
to take the exam. I ordered the Practice Test book along with the voucher.
My method consisted of going through the book chapter by chapter. I made
some answer sheets where I could score myself, and scribble a note next to
the answer telling myself what I truely missed. Some of them were from not
reading the "Choose 2" part. After I went through the entire book chapter by
chapter, I set it aside for a couple of weeks due to travel. I will admit
that after going through the book the first time, I was actually concerned
that I would not be able to pass. I did spend a bit of time looking at
php.net <http://php.net> at a few of the things I was deficient in. About a
week before the test, I did take a few more chapters worth of the exam.
The day of the exam, I was nervous. Before the exam started on the computer,
there was a survey about your PHP experience. Afterward, the test began. The
nice thing about the test was that for the Choose 2 questions, it would give
you checkboxes to make it obvious. The questions felt like some of the
questions in the Practice Test book. Overall, I found the exam to be easier
than the questions in the book. I actually finished my exam in about 40
minutes, but I do take exams fast (I aced my CS3 midterm in about 30
minutes, and passed my IBM Cert in about 50).
Sorry about the long post :)
