That is one area I am not sure about... When you buy a certificate, what =
am I getting. I purchase the certificate, they issue me, what... this =
public key? ... Is there the something I need to give to my hosting =
provider for the server? I am a newb on this topic. I have read on some =
of these sites the white papers / tech notes on what it does and all but =
I havn't seen something to explain what I get and require...
In regards to your reply.. The "manager keeping track of all your =
transactions" Do you mean actual Credit Card transactions or is a =
transaction any time something is transmitted from a secure page? For =
instance we will have forms in which they will complete with client data =
maybe billing information (Time, client) ... that form's data will be =
transmitted to us, is that a transaction..
-----------------------------
Hmmmm..I'm wary of the instantssl.com site. For this reason: they brag =
that verisign's certificate for one year with 128 bit encryption is =
$895..what they don't mention is for that price you don't just get the =
certificate..you also get your entire online merchant capabilities =
package for a year. With a manager keeping track of all your =
transactions. The certificate is a "bonus" thrown in. But not the price =
of just the cert. Misleading..and makes me wonder.
