[Cialug] Hosting Mailman

Hey folks, I thought I'd ask the mailing list about... mailing lists! I'm looking into setting one up for another small club, and could use some tips.

I first looked into self-hosting Mailman 3 on my home server, but realized that not having a static IP would likely be a problem for IP reputation. Then I started looking into hosted mailing list options, and settled on Mailgun. It was _almost_ exactly what I wanted, except that as of earlier this year, it has very poor deliverability to Microsoft email (outlook, hotmail, etc.). Messages are just blocked, not sent to spam folders, even with DKIM and DMARC properly configured, so that's a dealbreaker.

I looked into a few other similar options, but found that using your own domain is considered an "enterprise" feature by many of them (like groups.io where it's $100/mo!), which is also a dealbreaker.

So now I'm back to looking into self-hosting Mailman (probably with Postfix for some basic routing features), but on a VPS. Does anyone have tips on managing IP reputation, if any particular VPS providers are best for this use case (or ones to avoid), and any common complications to expect with setup & maintenance?

Or, alternatively, can anyone recommend a good hosted mailing list solution that supports custom domains, preferably allows multiple admins, and preferably under $15/mo?

Thanks,
Jordan
