Wait a minute... I just re-read the original post. If Linux is the client side, and the server-side is Windows/Mac, my #1 go-to is Chrome Remote Desktop. I love that thing. Also great because client-side works just as well on a Chromebook.

This might seem weird but in a pinch, I really like using Discord. The
linux client works well if you pay the $50/yr for it. I question security
still but I recommend it. You are limited to screen sharing quality on the
free tier.
