[Cialug] Android > Surveillance Device

All I recall is email address + password. Perhaps a name, too. It does send a one-time code (5 digits) the first time you sign up.

Of course, for me, the bigger privacy implication would be them receiving ALL of the video they want. I don't care if they have a (unique) email+pw from me (I used the gmail username+alias when I signed up).

Currently the only permissions I've enabled are microphone and storage - Mic so I can talk via the camera's speaker, and storage so I can download videos.

I plan to order two more today, to be flashed with an alternate firmware. If someone reminds me in a couple weeks, I can report back with how it went.

Hi all,

Can those who are using WyzeCam provide some insight about how much
personal information is submitted at the time of set up? I bought a
webcam from amazon about 1.5 years ago and during its setup, the android
app required submission of physical street address, as well as wanted to
have permission on many aspects of my smart phone which I thought
shouldn't be necessary. Call me paranoid but as long as the software is
not opensource, we can never know what is sent to the company
headquarters by the device/app without our explicit consent. Does
WyzeCam provide any specific information about the use of user data?

Hakan
