Is it possible that one or more of the cards have worked a little loose?

Subject: [Cialug] REALLY weird problem

OK, folks, .. need some spare brain cells here - I'm stumped!

We have a server at a remote site [from here, about 30 miles], and it has
been acting up for the past week after a power failure. The main symptoms
are - a connection can be established, but when there is any amount of
traffic over the connection it hangs (ssh, smtp, ..).

It *seems* be more stable on a local connection over external [remote
tunnel], but the both will hang at various times.

Network tests seem OK (i.e. substituting another machine on that cable
and testing outbound with speedtest is fine), .. and an internal test TO
the system is fine (copying a 2.5GB file TO the machine from a local
host).

Nothing weird in messages, .. dmesg, .. ethtool, .. top, ..

I have suspected a network issue, .. all cables have been replaced, and
different switch ports used.

Any suggestions on how to isolate the issue would be greatly appreciated!
