KVM + virt-manager has been rock solid for me; both on my local server,
where it runs Linux VMs, and on my work laptop where it runs a mix of
Linux and Windows VMs.

However, it's the only thing I've used so I can't really do a fair
comparison with other options.  I'm certainly happy with it.
