[Cialug] Idea for future meeting

Hey,

Just had an idea for a future cialug meeting. Here's the gist: A slight
majority of non-technical people think the surveillance state has "gone
too far." In a country this size that's a lot of people. However, they
don't know what their options are, and continue using products and
services that have been subverted.

SO, let's reach out to non-technical groups who have shown an interest
in privacy, and invite them to a guided workshop (where stuff gets
done). Short 60-second talks followed by hands-on application. Bring
your computer, bring a notepad, bring a friend!

Some will install DNSCrypt or HTTPS Everywhere. Some will
network.httpsendRefererHeader--; and some will even be brave enough to
try Linux! Whatever the details it could be big, and wonderful.

I've done this kind of event planning before, including media
attendance. The practice / trial-runs would be fun meetings just by
themselves.

Nicolai
