I have been running Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 on a Dell Optiplex GX270 for some time with no problems to speak of.  I wanted to get off that version and on to one that would be supported for an extended period so I upgraded to 12.04.  That did not go very well and after finally getting all the updates finished I started getting pop up errors on the screen very regularly.  I decided to install from scatch and downloaded the 12.04.3 version and burned it to a USB stick.  When I attempted to install the 12.04.3 version on the previously mentioned machine it encountered an error during the installation.  I tried reinstalling and encountered the error again.  I used the same USB stick and installed this 12.04.3 version on a different system.  It ran flawlessly during the install and seems to be working fine other than some video issues which seem to indicate I need to install an additional program.

I have looked on line but have not located any web page that specifically identifies the Dell GX270 as not being compatible with this version.  Does anyone know if there is a problem with this computer running the newer version?  Can someone point me to a site that might shed some light on this issue for me?

The Optiplex GX270 has a 3.0 Ghz Pentium IV processor and 2 GB or ram

Thanks!
