Acutally, the problem is pretty common - when the mail server is not
configured properly, it sends either none or bogus hostname in response to
the EHLO.

Trying to find the appropriate RFC citation(s) so if they take the
position "we can send via Google, if your email server rejects the email
is isn't out problem".

Actually, those are valid *inbound* email servers, .. outbound servers
technically do not need to be listed; it would be *nice* if they were
required, but I have never seen that implemented.
