Greetings!

On November 21st (Thanksgiving Eve) I'm going to be hosting the CIALUG meeting at Right Stuf (aka. RightStuf.com).

A few of you may have been at a virtualization users' group meeting several years ago where we demoed a platform known as Virtual Iron. Well, Oracle bought it, killed it, and left us reconsidering what we were doing. The primary topic for this meeting will be "what happened next." (Hint: we moved to VMware.)

Virtualization is becoming more and more important as the years go by, so I'm hoping this meeting will be a great chance to share some of our real-world experiences, and listen to what others have run into as well - we've had many ups and downs along the way. The majority of our VMware guests are Linux, though this year as part of moving to VDI, there's more than a few Windows desktops running as well.

We use a number of other Linux and open source products, and I'll be happy to demo and talk about them as well. Some of them include: Vyatta, ZoneMinder, Zenoss, CentOS. For our internal development, we primarily use Java/JBoss/JSPs and related technologies, and I can talk a bit about those as well. Pretty much anything we're doing is fair game - just ask.

Right Stuf will be providing free pizza for everyone attending! We'll have an EventBright link up in a bit to RSVP so we have some idea of how much to get. We also have free pop available in our employee breakroom (feel free to bring a mug to use if you'd like).

Also, I have some door prizes available as well: a complete Captain Tylor DVD box set (published by our own Nozomi Entertainment) and a couple packs of sampler DVDs of our different shows.

And, there's a stack of 1U servers I'd love to see go away. :)

Right Stuf's address is: 512 NE Main Street, Grimes, IA 50111 (Google Maps shows where we're at accurately). Feel free to park in front of our building or our parking lot to the south. The glass doors in the SE corner of the building are our guest lobby, come on in where you get there. We will be asking everyone to sign in, and I'll have a book out in that area.

I look forward to seeing everyone!
