Sounds like a permissions thing...i.e., you have permission to see it on the server, but for whatever reason you don't have permission to see it on your workstation.

Actually a brain twister:

I check emails first directly on the server first via Pine, then POP them
to my workstation after 'processing' (removing SPAM, daily log emails,
..).

I watched an email *disappear* this AM DURING DOWNLOAD! This has happened
before, but this time I actually saw it happen.

No filters in play on the email client, the message is not in the inbox
after download (while the rest ARE), nor it is in trash; it just
disappeared without a
trace (including attachments) from the server - not in ./Maildir/tmp,
./Maildir/cur, or ./Maildir/new.

Any thought on what might cause this or how to troubleshoot? Nothing in
maillog or messages during the download period, ..
