I tend to use vi keybindings (because Vim is better than Emacs :-) So, I type '<esc>k0isudo<enter>'. I could use <esc>kIsudo<enter> to save a keystroke. Neither of which are as short or elegant as sudo !!, but they're in my muscle memory from years of Vim use and !! isn't.
