Burying conduit is generally not a do-it-yourself job:

1) Digging trenches by hand is a lot of work.
2) The equipment to bury conduit either by trenching or boring is very
expensive and requires training to operate.
3) Even if you call Iowa One-Call you can still be held responsible
for cutting any buried cables or pipes.
4) If you want to hook up to other people, you'll need to at least get
to the edges of your own property where there are likely many buried
cables and pipes to deal with.

If you just wanted to do something small like run a conduit between
your house and a detached garage for a phone or something like that
you can probably get away with doing it yourself.

If you're really serious about having some conduit installed I can
give you references to a couple of local contractors that have done a
good job for my employer (DMACC).
