I heard on another list they are up to $30K. I just got in a second ago but no dice on checkout.

Unfortunately this is $100,000 or two hours, whichever comes first. Doesn't look likely that they'll hit the max at all.

It lasts more than 2 hours:
   - Starts 9AM MST January 7th, 2010
   - Ends 11PM MST January 7th, 2010 (or when we hit $100k, whichever comes first)

That means it started at 10AM CST, and goes until (no later than) Midnight tonight.

Wow they supposedly already prepared for this with recent upgrades

I don't think so. Last night I checked and they appear to have only two web servers, one for dynamic content and ssl, another for static content.

There's over 2,000 people in the IRC channel so presumambly there's more than that hitting their website. They just can't handle the number of connections they're reporting.

Ubuntu.com uses 5 or more front end web servers for busy days and we don't use SSL or dynamic content on our website (we serve from a static cache updated at frequent intervals).

There was a contest to see how quick they can dish out 100k. I'll bet it will be lunch time before they hit it.
