[Cialug] OT - Photo Laser paper

We just use "Brite White" paper - HP is a good brand, certainly there are others. The colors you want to "pop" will still come out muted and not as glossy as a slick photo paper.

Maybe others will disagree, but I think Inkjets and some other technologies (like Xerox Solid ink) are still better for photos than color lasers. Of course maybe I've never seen really good color laser output....

You'll actually find that glossy photo paper for use in laser printers is near impossible to find. The main reason is probably because toner flattens a gloss coating, so you are not able to get a 'magazine slick'
finish to the printed photo. Even worse, the more 'color', the less glossy it is, so if you use glossy paper and the photo has some white to it, the white areas will be glossy, while the 'colored' areas will be matte.

There are some options for matte finish photo paper for laser printers, though... HP makes a very nice photo paper for laser printers that is not glossy. You should probably be able to find something along the same lines at officemax/depot.

Finally, avoid photo paper that is not specifically made for laser printers. It highly depends on the printer, but some of them heat the paper up to a relatively high temperature in the fuser. We have a copier at work that goes up over 300degF, so any sort of plastic film could stick to the fuser drum and cause you paper jams and later grief.
I think most desktop lase printers probably don't get as hot as the copier we have does, though.

Sorry that I don't have a specific recommendation, but we generally just buy something with a good weight and a nice finish. It's hard to know what you're buying online, though. I'll have a look to see if we have any laser photo paper at work and reply to the list tomorrow if you haven't gotten any other recommendations.
