Such cynicism. Of the companies I do business with regularly, few have
a track record as stellar as Google's for upholding values I care
about. I cannot think of a time ever when Google abused my trust or
let me down.

We all know Google's advertising is their main source of revenue. I
don't like advertising in general but Google's is the least intrusive
I've seen, and honestly, I find it's often helpful.

They have stated that they use automated tools and algorithms to
process email in order to show ads that are relevant. They have shown
that they are willing to do the right thing even though pressured by a
government and faced with a serious economic impact (China). They're a
champion of open standards and open processes and they've put their
money where their mouth is time and time again.

Personally, I have a great respect for Google and trust them. Way more
than Yahoo (yes, I use Yahoo for IM and for Flickr). Way more than
Microsoft (I own a couple computers w/ legally purchased MS software).
Way more than Apple (I have an iPod and a Mac Book Pro).

I think it's very hard to be so paranoid about Google w/out being a
very serious hypocrite.
