[Cialug] InstallFest 2010?

I agree with regards to the demos and training idea. We'd discussed
doing something like that earlier this year, but it never really came
together.

I've also been considering having an InstallDocumentationFest, where we
don't so much just install things for people, but we deliberately
install things in wacky ways and update the Ubuntu and OpenSUSE wikis.
The alternate install documentation seems to be aging, and I worry that
those of who are experts in this stuff aren't doing our bit to keep the
community documentation up to date.

The answer is: Yes, you just volunteered to organize it. :)

We've done several of them in the past... the attendance has been really

poor for the last few events, possibly due to a lack of advertising.
Back in the "good old days", when Linux was harder to install and
configure, an Installfest was a good way to help new people out. Now
Linux is really easy to install, run off a live CD, or a VM image, so an

Installfest has limited appeal.

I think having people do demos and training on Linux and F/OSS apps may
be more popular?
