[Cialug] Ubuntu Live CD Issues

Ok, I can't remember if we've gone over this one or not.  I can't seem to
burn a properly working Ubuntu CD anymore.  I get this over and over again
while loading the live cd:

end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1432224
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 358056

and this shows up in dmesg:

sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: Timeout on logical unit

EVENTUALLY the live cd loads, but installs are nearly impossible.
