[Cialug] Linux and SNMP

I'm just getting my feet wet with SNMP.  What are some good tools for dealing with SNMP using Linux?

Is there something I can use to receive traps and then filter and review them somehow, or would that be two different tools?

There seems to be quite a bit of stuff and I'm looking for the tried-and-true type options or choices with the biggest communities around them.
