Why is that?

I just learned how to drive a manual about a year and a half ago. But, 
i'm hoping my next car will be a manual. They are more fun to drive, 
and has been mentioned in this thread already, require more attention 
paid to the task of driving (meaning i'd be less likely to become bored  
or drowsy). When driving a manual i also really appreciated the direct 
connection from the engine to wheels. Prior to that i hadn't realized 
how much slop an automatic transmission adds.
