I just did a fresh install on my Dell Inspiron E1505. I had a large
partition with Windows on it that I never used and wanted it back. I
went with ext4 also; just for fun. Everything worked out of box except
for some annoying pc speaker bell when shutting down and when tabbing,
which I kill like this:

sudo sh -c 'echo blacklist pcspkr > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-custom.conf'

and this also:

sudo vim /etc/inputrc
uncomment “set bell-style none”
