It does a dd copy of the partition... see previous cialug conversations about why this may or may not be for you.

g4l seems very similar to g4u.  They both do the raw binary copy rather than actually understanding the filesystem.  But g4u uses a netbsd kernel instead of linux, which probably makes no difference for me.
