I'm curious about something and I'm hoping one of you can shed some
light on it.

This is on a SuSE box with SCSI disks.
In /dev/disk/by-id/  I can see:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Nov  9 11:15
scsi-360a9800043346c366534444668526546-part1 -> ../../sda1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Nov  9 11:15
scsi-360a9800043346c366534444668526546-part2 -> ../../sda2
                                                             ^  ^  ^
^  ^  ^   ^   ^  ^    ^   ^   ^     ^  ^   ^
                                                  I want to know what
this identifier is and how it's generated.

Thanks,

- -Jeff
