There's a big difference between "open" and "hacked". :)

You can get Linux installed on an iPod or an Xbox through a hack. In 
doing so, you're probably violating a EULA, and DMCA various laws.

With the PS3, Sony is being very open towards installing Linux on it - 
they provide the necessary installer and partitioning tools, and have 
provided Yellowdog with the specs to make most of the hardware work.
