Yeah, I have lately been bitching about this exact issue.  Sometimes
it even skips back and repeats a second worth of material, not
something analog signals traditionally do...

My girlfriend used to live in Cedar Falls where there was competition
between private cable (presumably Mediacom) and public utility cable,
and apparently the result was cheaper and better service.  Sounds
nice.  Yay competition.
