I'm not aware of a free way, though Virtual Lab (through Download.com)

ag=lst-0-1  is a free to try program.  It will scan your system and provide
up to 500k recovery for free, beyond that its at the rate of $100 for the
first gigabyte, $4/gig after that.

Other options would be:

FileSalvage $89, http://www.subrosasoft.com/
