[Cialug]printing

I'm trying to install a usb laser printer on mandriva 2k6 and everytime 
I click on the "setup printers icon" the linux control center locks up 
and doesn't display anything.UsbView sees the printer just fine.I was 
orignally trying to set this up as a shared network(linux laptop to xp) 
printer on the winxp pro box the printer sets next to. Googling and 
Yahooing has found a mess of generic stuff but nothing that has helped.
