[Cialug] Soyo k7vme / VIA 8233 audio not working on Ubuntu 6.06

ugh, my powerbook (debian-ppc) does that - if you have headphones 
plugged in, it will pipe to the headphone jack, otherwise it will use 
the built-in speakers, and there is no way to switch short of a reboot

it took a _lot_ of googling to find that answer
