[Cialug] SPAM question

I believe that spammers are trying to accomplish one of two things
with these types of messages. Either they are trying to validate
email addresses so they can attack later with a real spam message.
Or, they might be trying to exploit bayesian filters that learn as
messages come through and are trying to get some of the garbage
emails through without links (emails without hyperlinks generally are
rated less likely to be spam) so when they send a message through
later with the same or similar wording AND a hyperlink, they hope
that the filter has reduced the spam rating than if only the second
message came through.
