Perhaps it would be informative to describe what a core file is.  Please
correct and add to this definition.  A "core" file is what is produced when
a binary program crashes.  This file contains different information to let
the developer know what the last state of the program was in when it
crashed.  

Somethings it may or may not contain include:
memory dumps
stack dumps
stack traces
debugging strings
