Barry, -- here are the results of running those strings.

debian:/# apt-get install build-essential module-assistant module-assistant
auto-install nvidia apt-get install nvidia-glx nvidia-settings echo nvidia
>> /etc/modules modprobe nvidia dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
E: Couldn't find package auto-install

apt-get install build-essential module-assistant
module-assistant auto-install nvidia
apt-get install nvidia-glx nvidia-settings
echo nvidia >> /etc/modules
modprobe nvidia
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
