Those are really nice... I considered getting one, but wanted more 
portability. The S500 is a nice balance of features and size. It's the 
smallest 5mp, 4x zoom camera I could find at the time.

There have been a few times I wished I had a better zoom, but being able 
to put the camera in your pocket is pretty nice too.

As far as the card type goes... I almost never access the CF card from 
my CF card reader, I tend to use either gphoto or the WinXP photo wizard 
& a usb cable to get the photos off it.
