Cialug'ers,

I like what I see in Firefox. Been a fan of Mozilla, so it seemed
logical to upgrade to Firefox. Unfortunately, the plug-ins are still a
bear to install. I'm trying to install the jre plug-in, and here is
what happens.

I have my plug-ins directory set to:
/home/%U/.mozilla/firefox/plugins
and in that directory, I have a symbolic link to
libjavaplugin_oji.so
which is actually stored in the directory:
/usr/local/firefox/firefox-installer/jre1.5.0_01/plugin/i386/ns7

My gcc version shows 3.3.3 and I have tried linking to the
libjavaplugin_oji.so file in both the ns7 and ns7-gcc29 directories.
The symbolink gets set but the plug-in does not. I have tried deleting
the pluginreg.dat file and allowing the sytem to recreate it. Then, I
tried creating a slink for plugins under the .mozilla directory pointing
to the firefox/plugins directory.

Anyone running Firefox got this java plugin animal tamed? If so, ...
help!

TIA,
Andrew L in Des Moines
