If nscd is running, you can stop it with "/etc/init.d/nscd stop"
or invalidate the hosts with nscd -i hosts

But, it sounds like the root of your problem isn't resolv.conf, but rather the
default route.

What does "route -n" show?  does it point to the firewall as the default
gateway?
