[Cialug] Wireless Adapter

I've been trying to use a USB adapter.  Grrr...

So far NDISwrapper is the only thing that got me close.  And then it caused
other wierdness to occur and I never got my connection.  YMMV.  The adapter
was a linksys USB.  BTW, most USB adapters come with a tiny cable you can
use to relocate the adapter.

BTW: I suspect Linksys builds in a planned obsolescence failure rate on
their units.  I have had several WAP11s burn out over the last year.

Last time I had an ethernet driver problem on a laptop with an internal nic,
I switched to a usb ethernet adapter.  I'm wondering if this would apply to
a usb wifi adapter also. (maybe it would work with the 2.6
kernel?) 

The netgear wg111 is on the list of USB devices support by the kernel.

It might work, I've got one here that works really well on the wife's laptop
(XP), but I haven't had a chance to try it out on Linux... My only complaint
is that it sticks out of the usb port like a big zit. 
When I knocked the laptop of the stand, it got bent, but it still works. Of
course, you're not supposed to do that right?
