[Cialug] "screen" for X

As in something that truly used the X protocol? Have you looked at nx
machine? There is supposed to be a free as in beer version available and
perhaps a free as in speech version in development? My understanding is
that it compresses the X protocol and allows for disconnection and
reconnection like you are asking.

You probably already are familiar with VNC.

Is there anything like "screen" for X11? It would be perfect for
semi-connected work. It would also allow you to restart your X server
without exiting the relevant applications.
