I would also assume that those DIDs can can be sent to any available =
channel? (like a business that has 4 lines and 20 or so DIDs)

There is not any local per minute usage cost.

Normally, what are the (rough) costs for the line (all 23 channels) and =
per=20
DID? Also, is the cost a flat rate per channel, or cost per min for =
local=20
usage?

 I am not sure that who has more bandwidth is a deciding factor but if =
it
was I am sure I have several times more already paid for here.
 I would assume the issue of DID numbers would be fairly important.

1. participants - hand count?
2. a machine - not hard to scavange parts with all the geeks on this
list
3. place to host - hmm... Marshallnet or Internetsolver - depends on
where the line is - who has more bandwidth?
4. Elves? Well, there are many talented people here... I'd volunteer
myself.

I've revised my requirements list for an Asterisk Telephony cooperative:

So how would an asterisk Coop work? We would need:
 participants
 a machine,
 a place to host it
 Internet bandwidth with necessary room and/or QoS
 a small race of elf-like genius computer operators to manage it.

Number one requirement is now participants. Would enough people even be
interested in giving up Vonage for something like this? Thinking out
loud -
we would either need the critical mass of people and money or some
uber-geeks that want to do it just for the sake of doing it, or some
combination thereof.
