CIALUG Meeting notes for 10-19-2005

Info Fest – February 28th, 2006

• Get information out to CIOs of companies of the benefits of Linux.
• Will be held at The Des Moines Higher Education Collaborative (The John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center), 1200 Grand Ave. Des Moines
• Would like sponsors to cover the cost of the rooms, and Marketing costs.
• Looking for companies to provide swag.

InfoBunker Presentation by Jason McGinnis – President

• InfoBunker was previously a military communications bunker.
• Extremely secure co-location facility. Total size is 65,000 square feet.
• Cost: Currently running a special through the end of October: 1 rack, $500 / month, per Mb cost, $150
• They are extremely paranoid about security. High encryption so tough, Sandia National Labs couldn’t break it.
• Battery backed with a turbine generator. Will last for nearly a week on one tank.
• The facility is under constant surveillance.
